So the Summer here in the
"It always RAINS there"
Seattle has been SOOOO HOT!
Not much rain and our grass is pretty much dead!
Which we are sure Hubby doesn't mind because he's not cutting it all the time!
Well because it's SO HOT and
because Mommy is nearing the end of this
pregnancy the days we get out of the house are limited!
Luckily, there is a nice lady in the
ward who is reaching out to our family.
But because we don't know much around here
she was ALWAYS inviting us out to do things!
Mommy was feeling a little guilty so
she decided to research a nice park
and invite her and her kids this time!!
WEEEELLLL,
It all started out GREAT!
It was a nice day and the kids were playing
on the playground while the supervision was talking in the shade.
Well, she not only had her 2 kids but she was also
watching her friend's 2 kids and they started to get bored.
Around that same time little C wanted to swing on the swing.
G was trying so diligently to be a good big brother and push him on the swing
but it wasn't quite working!!
So we decided to tell the other kids 10 more
minutes and then we were leaving so that C could
get a turn on the swing.
Mommy got up to make her way to him on the swing
but had to step down into the wood chipped play area.
She was telling herself to be careful and was specifically trying
to not fall BUT she did!!
She fell and rolled her left ankle!
It was SO embarrassing!!!
Other parents came over to ask if she was okay
but she was just embarrassed that she told them she was
fine and just needed to sit for a little bit.
Well the other kids got impatient so we quickly
decided to head to an indoor play area at McDonalds
so that we could cool off and get a cool treat.
Mommy got a nice citrusy cool drink to make
sure the baby was still moving okay.
We cooled off and then mommy was able to make it home.
She called Daddy and Ganma
to get their opinions on if we should head to the ER.
After Daddy saw Mommy try to walk
he insisted we call the Nurses line and Ganma agreed.
We called and they told us to head into L&D.
We went they hooked up the baby and the
heart beat was thumping away. But after
some more monitoring they showed that mommy
was actually having contractions!!!
So they had to stay a little longer
and then mommy had to get checked out to make
sure she wasn't dilating!!
She wasn't and the baby is nice and cozy in there!
But it was SOOOO late
and the boys who were doing AMAZING
were ending their run of patience so
the L&D doc told us to head home and follow
up with an Orthopedic doctor the next day!
After a LATE quick bite to eat we went home and went to bed!!
(Have you ever tried keeping your left foot elevated, while also
laying on your left side, while keeping ice on said ankle AND
trying to sleep with a BIG prego belly!?!?!)
Mommy did not sleep well and Daddy was
amazing and worked from home the next day.
We had already made plans with Sam and M
to hang out for the day at a splash pad BUT
that obviously had to be tweaked a little!
(Mommy felt SOO guilty she cried for a little while!!)
M was AMAZING and offered to come
pick up the boys and take them still while Mommy went to
get her foot checked out!
Mommy's ankle
A different view.
Diagnosis:
A severe sprain with a possible avulsion fracture!!
But due to all the swelling she couldn't determine
for certain if it was fractured but either way the outcome
is the same = 3-8 weeks in a boot!!!
2-3 weeks of elevation and ice.
The baby is due in 8 weeks so that was a bit upsetting!!
She also mentioned that mommy might need physical therapy
and it could take at LEAST 6 months for it to feel "right" again!!!
M said the boys had a blast and were really good.
(THANK YOU AGAIN for coming to the RESCUE!!)
This is what Mommy gets for trying to be a GOOD mommy
and getting her boys out of this stuffy house!!!
