Before we left Ohio we had to load up a moving truck
with all the stuff we so WISELY left in a storage unit there!
We packed up on the Saturday before Easter
and then drove it down on Monday!
We had the amazing missionaries help us unload
all of it into our TINY apartment!!
We should have taken pictures of all the
STUFF absolutely EVERYWHERE!!
It was very strange for us to be planning on moving
but not packing a THING!
We scheduled the packers to come
and they came and did it all!!
They packed everything we own in about 5 hours!!
Then we waited for the moving truck with the movers to come
and pack everything up in the truck BUT
the truck broke down so that had to be pushed back a day!
It worked out okay for us because we had the packers
leave our beds up for us to sleep on so it was one less day in a hotel!
(The movers packed the beds up when they came)
Our stuff all packed up in that HUGE truck!!
(No all our stuff didn't take up the whole truck only about 1/3 of it!)
Waving bye to all our stuff!!
A final picture of the outside of our apartment.
We stayed in a hotel close to our apartment
for the first night because we had to go back
and clean it before we officially moved out.
(The most frustrating thing is we cleaned everything
and they STILL found something to charge us for!!!)
Next up:
Our cars!!
They were picked up and taken to another big truck
to be driven across the country!!
See you On the other side!!
Our last 2 nights in D.C. we actually some how
booked the SAME hotel that we stayed in
when we went down to D.C. on our apartment hunting trip
a year ago!!
It was crazy how things ended the same place they began
on our adventure in D.C. with this hotel!
The boys were so happy it had a pool!!
Our brave little swimmer wearing his "gobbles!"
The water was actually a little cold
so G only got in for little bits at a time!
But this little guy couldn't get enough of the water!
G actually was so excited about swimming
that he was running and tripped and clipped
the hotel door with his poor little ear and his collarbone!!!
(We got it checked out when we got to Seattle and nothing was broken!)
We slept as much as we could our last night there
but we had to get up at 5 am to get to the airport!
Daddy lovingly carrying his boys out to the car to hit the road!!
We got up and headed to the airport
where we had 2 boys, 2 dogs, 2 dog crates, 7 bags of luggage,
and 5 carry on bags!!
And mommy is pregnant!
You would think people would have offered to help right!?!
WRONG!!!
We had to go drop off our rental van and then
the cart dispenser was far across the parking garage!
Hubby went to go get one but we actually needed 2!
So we loaded one up and lugged everything else over
to the cart dispenser for another one!
Then the signs at Reagan National airport
are not very well marked so we went up and then down
an elevator trying to figure out where to go!
We finally got to our airline's check in desk
to find out that they didn't have a security check
or conveyor belt behind their desk like most airlines do!!
(They didn't have a skycap either!! We checked!! It would have been NICE!)
So we had to check in our bags and then lug it all over to the TSA
security baggage check point!!!
(There were several people around and they all just looked at us and chuckled!!)
After dropping off the luggage and
the dogs and praying they would make it in the cargo hold
we quickly hurried off to security.
Where there was a HUGE LINE!!!
That WASN'T moving very fast at all!!
Then Daddy gets a call to say he forgot to drop off
the van key to the rental car company!!
So he took C because we were still dealing
with 2 grumpy boys who were woke up really early.
They ran back over to the rental car place to give them the keys.
Mommy and G waited in line anxiously hoping they would get back
in enough time to get back in line with them so they didn't have to wait long!
They finally came around the corner and got in line with them and we were all
together to go through security!
C didn't want to walk through by himself and
through a little fit and started running away but we quickly
calmed him down. We grabbed our bags and then
took off to our gate because we were hearing
"Final Boarding Call for Alaskan Airlines to Seattle"
They called our names and said we needed to get to our gate!
We had NO time to grab breakfast we just booked it
to the gate to board our plane JUST in time!
(Luckily mommy had packed a few bagels and fruit in her carry on bag.)
We found our seats and the boys did AMAZING!!
Neither of them really slept but we found
other ways to entertain them.
We still had to buy some of the airline's food
in order for us to not starve.
But all in all we MADE IT!!
Everything!
The luggage and our dogs and us!
We MADE IT!!
We were so blessed to be able to collect our
luggage and then head off to find out if the dogs made it!
We were ALL worried that our little bundle of nerves
Sancho wasn't going to make it!!
But when Wifey rounded the baggage claim
carousel she saw 2 dog crates there and started calling their names
and Sancho popped his head out!!
Apparently, Bear actually got
out of his crate some how; after they landed and were in transport
to the baggage claim area! A TSA worker
came and told us to be careful with his crate because
he got out somehow!! Luckily, he came to her when she
called for him and he was super friendly when she put him back in!!
We are happy to say we will NOT be doing
that again without more help!!
We had the option to drive
but we thought it would be less stressful to fly.
Boy, were we WRONG!
Because NO BODY offered to help
us when we got to Seattle either!!
We definitely looked like a crazy circus
act trying to juggle everything!
We are truly grateful that we all made it safe and sound!
