The Move to D.C.

The week after Easter was spent packing up the rest of the house
(mostly done by our loving Ganma who came to our rescue)
and throwing up with fevers and being miserable!!
It was not the best time for us to get sick at all but that's life!
(We still are so grateful for all Ganma's help considering all she got was
the yummy ickies we had and us moving far away!)
Daddy flew home for the weekend to pack up the moving truck
and drive it down to our new apt. that we NEVER saw before moving in!!
(We went apt. hunting and then found these apt.
really close to a Red Robin and we "knew" this was the place!
We drove around the outside of the complex but never saw inside the actual apt.!)

Our moving truck!

Mommy keep your eyes on the road!!

They boys did great!!!
The dogs rode with daddy in the moving truck.
And Sylvia rode with mommy and the boys.
We made it a little more than half way before the boys woke up and needed the
potty but it wasn't at the best time so we just pulled off an off ramp
to find a place in nature. Luckily there was a gravel park and ride that we pulled into
by a hillside covered with trees.  Not thinking we both opened the doors to get each of
the boys out (C was almost fully potty trained) and a very scared kitty jumped out too!
(Just a refresher on our sweet kitty: we rescued her from a scary situation where she
had been traumatized by being abandoned outside to fend for herself.  She never
really got along with the dogs and kept mostly to herself in her safe haven
of our bedroom.  Most people who came to visit had NO CLUE we had a sweet kitty
upstairs loving her new life in our room.  We loved her so very dearly she wanted petted
when she wanted some loving but other than that she just kept our bed warm for us while
we were busy throughout the day.  She is one of the best cats out there!)
Back to the story so a very scared kitty jumped out too and ran under the car.
We tried DESPERATELY to coax her out but she ran up the hillside
and up a very tall tree!! We tried EVERYTHING to get her down!!
We even called the closest thing they have to a Fire Dept. out
there in the back hills of West Virginia.  They came and said there wasn't
much they could do to help us out but maybe hose her down!
So we said a prayer went back up to the tree in the woods and took
a LONG vine thing and poked her until she lost her balance and fell out of the
tree!  We tried catching her but she landed on the ground and ran off!
We searched and searched for her but it was getting very dark and
we had to get back onto the road.
Just at that time a couple of young guys came to drop of a friend
at his car that was parked at the park and ride.
We quickly told him what had happened and he said he'd
come back the next day to search for her in the daylight.
We exchanged numbers and got back on the road.
Wifey cried and cried pretty much the rest of the way to D.C.
How do you drive away and leave a member of your family to fend for themselves in the woods!?!?
The next day we got a text from the young guy who said he found her by the can of food
we had left for her there!!
He said he was giving her to his aunt who is a Cat Lover and she'd have a good home!
(Since we weren't really supposed to have her with a max of 2 animal limit at the new apt we felt relieved.)
Of course we ask ourselves if the guy was lying but what reason did he have to lie
to us? He doesn't know us and it didn't make sense why he would have
offered to help and then make up an elaborate lie. At least that's what we tell ourselves!!
We tell ourselves she is happily living in a good home somewhere!
And if the guy did lie we know she is a survivor and we know someone else
took her in!
WE LOVE and MISS her all the time!!
Sylvia got her name because Wifey has ALWAYS
wanted a cat that looked like her favorite cartoon character Sylvester
and Hubby brought her home one day.
We loved her and still love her everyday since!

 Luckily this little guy:
was taken in by one of Ganma's student workers!!
We get updates on him every so often and are comforted he is in a good home!

We miss our Mr. Snuggle Buggle as well!!
(Named by the one and only G)
