Independence Day 2012

Our second visitor was Wifey's brother Adam.
He came down right around the 4th of July and stayed
a couple of days with us.
We were debating on whether or not to head downtown
for the fireworks.  We went to a ward breakfast that morning
and asked around what people thought.
We got mixed answers but from the answers
we got we decided to go!
After a while we thought to ourselves
"Why would anyone pass up the opportunity to celebrate our freedom in our Nation's capital?"

So we packed a lunch and headed down after lunch.

It was hot that day!
So we went to the Air and Space museum
to escape from the heat a little bit.

After that we ate our packed dinner and
decided to find our spots along the mall for the show.
The Washington Monument

Waiting to see the show!

The Capital Building.
They were actually doing construction
along the mall that summer.
We heard they were putting in a sprinkler system.

We were waiting for a little while but it wasn't too bad.
We all took turns adventuring around and seeing what's going
on in different areas along the mall.

Along one of the adventures
we splurged for some cool treats.

The boys were so cute sharing "licks."

It sure was yummy!

They even shared with daddy!

The sun setting.

Coming back from one of the adventures!
This adventure was to get
"COLD WATA!! Get yer COLD WATA HEERE!"

The mall filled up fast and there were A LOT
of people there but it was "too" crowded.

When it started getting dark we busted out
our own glow stuff!
Mommy was nice enough to bring some from home!
(It's WAY CHEAPER that way!)

Cheese!

They loved playing with them they didn't even ask
for anything from the expensive guys going around!

The Washington Monument lit up

The Capital building.

A little closer view!

Then it was time for the show!!

The boys were amazed!!
And so were the rest of us!

It truly was an awesome experience!
The feeling you get sitting there watching
the fireworks go off behind the Washington Monument
is truly incredible!
We are SO grateful to live in this free country
where we can worship and live in freedom!
Thank You to all those who have served our country!!
God Bless the USA!

On the way back the boys got
shoulder rides from daddy and uncle Adam!
Mommy liked it better that way too!!
She could see and knew where everyone was in the crowd!

Thanks to daddy's knowledge of the metro
and a tip from a friend at breakfast
we were able to get on the subway before a
HUGE part of the crowd and got seats for the ride home!

Everyone was tired!!
They look comfy!!

We HIGHLY recommend to everyone
who might get the chance to see fireworks in D.C. to take it!!
If you don't have kids there is an area REALLY close to The
Monument where you can go and stand, hear music playing, and have a good time.
If you have kids don't let them hold you back!!
The boys truly did AMAZING and LOVED every minute of it!
