Yes you have been reading our posts correctly!
We CHOSE to fly the red-eye on Christmas Eve.
As amazing as our Thanksgiving was with the family
we have in the Pacific Northwest we were desperately missing "home!"
Hubby had done some research and read that
the closer you get to the holiday the cheaper the prices get.
So one day while watching General Conference Wifey
decided to start looking and she found flights for cheap
ON Christmas Eve. We talked about it and decided
to book the flights!
It's this little guy's very first flight on his very first Christmas!!
What a way to celebrate his "firsts!"
He's not quite sure!!
He's thinking "My mommy and daddy are cwazy!"
The whole gang waiting for our flight!
They looked thrilled!
We were up early and with all the excitement and
then staying up late they were tired!
There he is on his very first flight!
He did AMAZING!
Actually they all did AMAZING!
They slept most of the way.
Sadly we had a lay over and THAT
is where stuff got a little testy!
We realized where red-eyes were AMAZING
for our kids before don't quite work well now.
Why you might ask?
Because we are now OUT NUMBERED!
Before we would each simply grab a sleeping child
and walk to our next gate or to baggage claim.
Now there are only 2 of us and well flying the red-eye
the opposite direction wasn't too smart!
The boys still great but we had a VERY
big fit from our middle one because he didn't
want to walk and we were trying to plan
for a rental car and all our luggage so we did not
take a stroller!
(We will NOT be making THAT mistake again!)
But once we figured out how to piggy back one kid
and carry the other kid AND the carry-ons
and the baby in the car seat we made it all the way
through the very poorly laid out Dulles (D.C.) airport!
(Yes we FLEW all the way across the country again! Back
to where we had originally moved from to catch a plane back to Pitt!)
It was a tiny plane!
He's not quite sure what's going on!
This little guy was happier after some food and some time to wake up!
We made it to Pittsburgh and took our time to
wake up the boys so they would walk to baggage claim.
They all slept (including daddy) for
a lot of the trip! We love that our boys
love to travel and they do so well on plane rides!
We got all of our luggage in Pittsburgh then went outside
in the BELOW freezing temperatures to get our car
to be directed back inside to the kiosk.
So daddy said to stay put so we didn't have to
walk everyone and everything all over the airport!
But wouldn't you know it our boys had to go POTTY!!
So mommy took the ONE luggage cart with
2 large bags of luggage, 2 carry-ons, 2 carseats,
4 personal carry-ons, the diaper bag, 2 kids and the baby in the car seat
to the potty where she had to juggle not "leaving" our stuff
unattended in the airport and keeping an eye on the boys going potty!
It was quite impressive!
But we made it!!
And for everything that could have gone wrong
it did not; for which we are SO grateful!!
MERRY real CHRISTMAS!!
