A couple of years ago Hubby got Wifey
a Hot Air Balloon ride for her birthday.
We were holding off because we wanted to
use it to see something more exciting than
the flat parts of Ohio.
So we decided to take advantage of the opportunity
to see the Fall colors over the Shenandoah Valley!
We drove late into the night to Wifey's
brother's house and then we got up early to go watch the sunrise from the air!
We met the rest of the crew/group in a parking lot
and then they drove us out to the take off site!
They have a few over the area because it depends on which way the wind is blowing.
The sunrise.
The basket we rode in.
We took of from a church's yard.
This is another Hot Air Balloon
that they set up and send in front of your balloon.
It acts as a sort of a guide on what the air is doing.
Standing next to our balloon.
Getting Bigger
And Bigger!
This is how the fill it up.
It's almost up!
Standing with the balloon.
And it's up!!
UP and UP and AWAY guide balloon!
Inside the basket
waiting to take off.
And we are OFF the ground!
High up in the Sky.
The scenery around was BREATH taking!

Looking out over the valley
Our shadow on the ground
It gets pretty hot around your head but
the cool breeze from the Fall weather kept it from getting too hot.
Coming in for a landing!
We landed in someone's YARD!!
(They have designated spots where they've asked permission to land.)
You can see our shadow.
(We are holding our heads together right next to the right part
of the pole connecting the balloon to the basket.)
And we MADE IT!
On the ground.
The whole gang!
The left part of the group are the workers
and the right is the group of riders in the balloon!
They always do a toast of sparkling cider at the end of each successful ride!
It truly was an amazingly breath taking experience!!
We can both check it off our "life list!"
It really is very peaceful just floating in the sky taking in all of God's creations!
(We would totally do it again!! When the boys are old enough we really want to take them!
It was a little strange being up there with so many
strangers so we would try to book a flight with a group of friends and create
memories that will last for a life time!)
Big Thanks to Hubby and to
Uncle J and Katie for watching the boys!
