Growing Family

So there is going to be another addition to the family!!! Yes, we are pregnant and going to have a baby!! We did get another dog but that post will have to come later about him. This is to focus on our little G man's birth and the celebration of another one to come. Wifey figured it would be best to put down the entire story of how G got here since we would have another birth story to tell. We did not want to get them screwed up or forget the struggles mommy and baby went through. So if this is a little redundant we apologize but this is just for our memories and records as well as updating all of you!
August 24th we go into the doctor's office for a check up and they said if you want to have the baby today we can. Well of course we opted to have the baby that day! The doctor explained that the baby would be coming over the weekend and right now we know the baby is okay so if we want we can go home get our bag and head to the hospital! We went home and mommy took a shower, grabbed our bags and we were on our way. We stopped for food as instructed by the doctor before we arrived at the hospital. We were checked in and all set up waiting for things to progress. Mommy was given cervidil and pitocin to induce and help things along. The cervidil can be in for up to 12 hours and sometimes people are given 2 doses but not mommy. She was having contractions so they took it out and she was already 4 cm in only a few hours. Mommy then opted to get an epidural mainly because she didn't want the pain of getting checked again. They came in and gave an epidural and everything was still moving along swiftly. Then G's heart rate was all over the place so they opted to do an internal fetal monitor. Well while inserting the fetal monitor they broke mommy's water or mommy's water broke. Well we guessed this wasn't supposed to happen because they brought in a machine to pump mommy back up with fluids. (Which to this day we feel that most of the stretch marks mommy has is due to the over abundant amount of fluid they pumped back into her body but we digress.) Mommy went from 4 -8 cm rapidly amongst all the confusion. And there mommy stayed. She was exhausted and wanted to sleep but baby G's heart rate was still dipping dangerously low; so the nurses would come in and tell her to switch sides constantly waking mommy up all through the night. Ganma was very nervous and didn't sleep much in the night due to baby's heart rate dipping so low. Finally in the morning there was still no change after almost 20 hrs of labor and everyone rushed around getting ready for a c-section. They did not tell us much which made mommy think something was wrong with the baby. They told us we would be having a c-section and we cried but not much time to dwell because they were wheeling mommy down the hall to the OR. Mommy was shaking cold due to the medicine but then out came baby G. IT'S A BOY!! YAY! We all know daddy wanted a boy first. They took baby away and daddy went to go spread the good news while mommy got stitched up. But then mommy hears her name followed by " We are missing a needle just hang tight we are getting radiology here to take an x-ray to see if we have to go back in!" Well where ever it was they found it and the scare was over. Mommy was wheeled to recovery where they pushed on her belly and it hurt her so bad! Then the nurses left her all alone and she needed to throw up. She was screaming "Somebody help me!!" "Help somebody!!" A nurse finally came and said is everything okay and mommy said "I need to throw........" And she did all over. Then mommy cried because she hates throwing up. The next time they came to push on her belly she pleaded with daddy not to let them do it again but he did and she yelled at him. After they were done she told him not to touch her. Then they forced her to try and feed but with all the extra fluids and all the drugs being pumped into her body for so long she couldn't feel her arms. The first time feeding was while daddy was holding the baby close. But luckily baby knew just what to do. It is upsetting to think about it now but the very first time mommy "held" her baby she couldn't feel her arms and can't remember much. The first day she slept off the drugs. Several people came to visit but she did not even know they were there because of the drugs in her system. She truly appreciated them coming and loves all who did so much for her and baby. And now our baby G is almost 2 and there is another on the way. You'll be happy to know that we have a new doctor we did not agree with several of the things that took place while mommy and baby were in labor. The new doctor when asked about the low heart rate for so long and the fluids she just simply explained she can't say much but she'd never heard of that before and that would not happen again. And due to mommy's pelvic bone not separating and baby G's head being so big he came out with a bruise and had to have extra tests we will be having another c-section. So hopefully we pray that all will go smoothly and much more will be explained that we will simply go in and baby will come out! We are so very excited and we'll keep you posted along the way.
G was pretty tired from working so hard too!!
