So that leads us to our precious baby boy! Amanda and Ken were living in Poland working and going to school and barely seeing each other much. The plan was to get pregnant after Amanda graduated in May with her education degree. Well baby Gavin, the Lord and maybe some of Amanda and Ken too decided it was alright to get pregnant a little sooner than planned. So we found out on Christmas that we were having a baby!!! Amanda was shocked, stunned, and many other emotions while Ken was just excited! We waited to tell everyone until after the first trimester. We wanted it to be a surprise what the sex of the baby was and as you know now he's a boy!! Amanda had morning sickness the whole way through and was upset that it was so hot and under doctor's orders no swimming or baths which she loves!! So Gavin was due on August 30th but we went in on the 24th for a check up and the doctor said we could have the baby today or wait through the weekend but we know the baby is fine now and there was some blood already showing in the urine (so that's why you pee in a cup every stinking time you go to the doctors!!!??) So of course we opted to go that day. Well we went and they gave Amanda several things to help her along. She dilated to 8 cm really fast and then stopped. They then came him to do somethings with an internal heart monitor for the baby since giving her the drugs the baby's heart rate was all over. So when they did that her water broke and went everywhere!! Well since that wasn't supposed to happen they had to bring in a machine that pumped fluid back into the uterus for the baby. Then Amanda was in so much pain from all of these unexpected things happening she asked for an epidural. Then after over 20 hours of labor and several unexpected obstacles the doctor opted for a C-section. We were devastated at first but then decided this is what would be best for the baby. So at 9:22 am on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 our baby boy was born!!! 8lbs 5oz.!!
The doctor later said that Amanda would never have been able to have a vaginal birth because his head was too big and his poor head got this HUGE bruise from Amanda's pelvic bone!! Poor guy! He checked out a-okay!!! Luckily!
